10 ways to relax quickly and feel happy

We deal with stress more often than we realize. Maybe, you had a tough day, maybe your children were testing your patience a lot, maybe you couldn’t do something you wanted/planned for the day, maybe you feel like no one understands what you are going through, or maybe life keeps happening and throwing curve balls at you again and again. Whatever the reason, stress is always present in our life.

I feel stressed every other day because of one reason or another. There are just too many reasons for it! But I never like to cling to it and spend my time and life feeling like ‘I even can’t!’. The truth is no one likes to feel like that and I’m sure you too are not any different. So, how to deal with this feeling when we feel down or frustrated at everything happening around us?

Here are my top 10 ways to relax quickly and feel happy:

I have a few ways that always help me to de-stress and unwind. Whenever I see myself in such a situation I always try one of these ways and they help me feel calm and relaxed instantly. So today, I wanted to share my top 10 ways with you that will help you to deal with stress and feel relaxed instantly and also let you savor your life and live the moment!

Here are some of my favorite ways to relax and unwind and feel happy again whenever I feel stressed:

#1. Listen some music

Music works wonder. I love to hear songs whenever possible. It’s a great stress buster for me.

Whenever I feel stressed/frustrated I listen to my favorite playlist and the songs work their way to my mind, calming me and making me relax! I also love to sing when I am listening to the songs. I don’t know why but singing loudly always helps me feel happy and instantly kills my stress!!

Try it out! It will help you too. Maybe try singing loudly while listening or try some dance moves if you like to dance. It will work for you for sure!!

#2. Read your favorite book

Books!! Another love of my life.

Who doesn’t like to escape into a good story? Whenever the situation feels out of control I choose to give it a rest and dive into a good story and the imaginary world of it. Oddly it soothes me a lot and helps me relax. After reading one or two chapters I feel so refreshed and ready to deal with whatever life brings in my way.

I’m sure it’ll work for you too. Who doesn’t like stories? Choose to escape in one of your favorites rather than dealing with the unpleasant feeling and unwind yourself.

Once you feel better, you’ll be able to handle the situation in a much better way than before!

#3. Meditate

This is another great way to relax and destress. Believe me, it’ll instantly calm you and will give a feeling of complete serenity.

You can meditate in various ways. Try whichever you like. Pray, or write a journal or do some yoga or a breathing exercise and you’ll see the change for yourself.

It also gives us a great chance to practice gratitude and look inside us, identify our true priorities, and the required motivation to work on them – ultimately killing your stress and filling you up with a lot of positivity and serenity.

#4. Take a walk

I have always found that, in the company of nature, I always feel refreshed and calm. If you are feeling too stressed, take a walk and go into nature. Simply enjoy the fresh air, watch the trees, the birds and the flowers and they will instantly fill you up with happiness.

A change in the scenery also helps us to forget the stressful things and help us to concentrate on other important things in our life. It’s a good way to savor your life and enjoy the scenery and the fresh air!

#5. Enjoy some solitude

Do you enjoy solitude? I do. A lot!

In fact whenever I am stressed out, I crave some alone time and the serenity that comes with the solitude. Usually I like to fill a cup of tea for myself and just sit outside watching the sky while sipping my tea. It relaxes me and gives me an opportunity to ponder on things running in my mind. Oh, even the thought of it makes me feel relaxed!!

If you like this idea of being in your own company then try it sometimes. I’m sure you’ll find it super helpful.

#6. Write it down

When so many things are running in your head and making you feel stressed out, then doing a brain dump can help you hugely.

Just grab a paper and pen or if you have a journal then use it and write down whatever you are feeling right now. Keep writing until you start feeling a bit better and then again keep writing till you start to feel much better.

It helps me many times. It’s basically like venting out my own worries and poring all the stress out on a paper and it magically frees my mind from all those worries and stress and it makes me feel just… Free!!

Give it try. It’ll help you too.

#7. Watch /Read something funny

Laughter reduces stress, we all know that. So why not try out a good laugh whenever you are too stressed?

A good way to have a good laugh is to watch something funny ( maybe a Romcom?) or read a comedy book.

There are plenty of good comedy books and shows. Pick any one and treat yourself with some laughter. It’ll lighten your mood and make you feel relaxed.

(if you love watching ‘Friends’, what can be a better excuse to watch it again and again?)

#8. Revisit your hobby

When was the last time you spent some time on your hobbies?

If you have any hobby, then revisit it if stress is giving you a tough time. Spending time on your hobbies will make you feel inspired and happy. It does that to me. Whenever I spend some time drawing something or playing my Violin, it fills me with happiness, killing all the stress I was feeling.

If you don’t have a hobby, try to find one. There must be something you like to do. It doesn’t have to be something huge, your hobby can be as simple as just coloring a printed design! Until it reduces your stress and gives you a feeling of happiness, you can do whatever you like. I promise it’ll help you to relax instantly.

#9. Have some Me Time

Ah, Me Time!

Of course, it’ll kill the stress and help you relax. A regular Me Time can help you to deal with any kind of stress in your life.

Having Me Time means spending time on yourself, doing what you love to do that makes you feel happy. For someone, it can be watching TV, for someone it can be talking to her friend, for someone it can be spending some time with her spouse, or for someone it can be reading books or enjoying some alone time. It really depends on what you love, your hobbies, your passion, those things that make you feel happy. Do those things regularly and keep the stress at the bay!
